What Happened

Area authorities have information on a wrong-way crash that injured two people at US 77 in Victoria County, TX on April 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:46 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Corvette operated by 46-year-old Kristopher Gonzalez was headed southbound on a northbound exit ramp before colliding head-on with a Hyundai Palisade operated by 35-year-old Jose Acosta Vera. The impact pushed the Corvette from the road into a median cable barrier, ejecting Gonzalez venom the vehicle and leaving him with fatal injuries. Both Vera and a passenger, 30-year-old Erika Olivarez, had injuries believed to be serious in nature. Additional details were not available.
