What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 181 in Bee County, TX on August 6th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 12:21 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 2500 operated by 51-year-old Jose Rodriguez Ortega was headed southbound on US 181 when it began to veer from the road into a grass median. While attempting to correct back onto the road the vehicle went into a skid and into bar ditch. The vehicle overturned onto its side, partially ejecting Ortega from the vehicle and causing fatal injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
