What Happened

Police with the Harris County Sheriff's Office have information on a crash that killed at least one person at Fry Rd in Harris County, TX on January 6th, 2023. Authorities say it happened around 3:36 p.m. According to their investigation, a Ford F-250 was headed southbound as a Mazda CX-9 was headed northbound. As the Mazda turned left on a flashing yellow arrow, it allegedly failed to yield to traffic and collided with the side of the Ford. The impact pushed the Ford into a light pole, causing an occupant to suffer fatal injuries. The victim was identified as Joshua Troutt. The woman operating the Mazda had minor injuries and police do not believe she displayed signs of intoxication. A third vehicle, a Dodge Ram that officers suspect may have been involved in a race with the Ford before the collision, fled the scene. No other details were provided.
