What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist at FM 1638 in Nacogdoches County, TX on November 27th, 2022. Police are saying it happened around 6:46 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Malibu operated by 61-year-old Kollis Morris traveling northbound on FM 1638 approaching the intersection with Westward Dr. A motorcycle operated by 33-year-old Juan Solis Jr was headed northbound ahead of the other vehicle and slowed to make a turn before it was struck by the Chevrolet. Following the crash, Morris allegedly left the scene and Solis suffered fatal injuries after being ejected from the motorcycle. Officers recommend and/or issued charges for Failure to Stop and Render Aid and Intoxication Manslaughter.
