What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at East 16th St and Idalou Rd in Lubbock, TX on August 25th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. According to their investigation, a Chevrolet pickup truck operated by 84-year-old Elijah Austin was headed eastbound on 16th St and came to a stop at the intersection with Idalou Rd. Upon leaving the stop sign, the vehicle entered into the intersection and collided with a southwest motorcycle operated by 31-year-old Justin Norman. Officers did not specify which vehicle was believed to be at fault. They say Norman was taken to an area hospital with injuries he died from on August 30th. The condition of Austin was not revealed.
