What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 29 in Burnet County, TX on July 27th, 2023. Police believe the incident happened around 8:41 p.m. According to officials, a Ford F-150 operated by a 22-year-old Burnet man was westbound on Hwy 29. At the same time, a Mini Cooper, operated by 38-year-old Lacy Van Zandt, was traveling eastbound. Authorities allege the Ford veered into the eastbound lanes before colliding head-on with the Mini Cooper. The impact is believed the have sent the Ford veering from the road before it caught fire. The Mini Cooper was forced into guardrail, leaving Van Zandt with injuries that were fatal. It has been alleged by officials the Ford operator may have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.
