What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two people at State Hwy 302 in Winkler County, TX on February 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:42 p.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Cherokee operated by an unnamed 31-year-old Sanders, AZ man was headed southbound on FM 874. The vehicle is allegedly to have failed to yield right of way at the intersection, traveling into the path of a tractor-trailer operated by a 27-year-old Chaparral, NM man. The Sanders man and a passenger, identified as 53-year-old Leonardo Belone, suffered fatal injuries. The other driver was not injured. Police had no additional information to share.
