What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-45 in Houston, TX on November 7th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:40 p.m. According to investigators, a Mazda M3S headed southbound is alleged to have veered from the road before striking a tree, utility pole and utility box. A rear seat passenger in the vehicle was killed, officials say. A front seat passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. There driver, identified as 23-year-old Fernando Jose Chacon Perez, was hospitalized with suspected minor injuries. Sources indicate charges for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault were recommended and/or issued.
