What Happened

Lubbock Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed five people at Marsha Sharp Fwy in Lubbock, TX on May 6th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. According to investigators, two vehicles were involved in a collision that occurred under unclear circumstances. Current investigation suggests a minivan was struck head-on by an SUV traveling on the wrong side of the road.  Three people involved died at the scene. Two others involved were hospitalized with injuries they also later died from. Police later identified the victims as 21-year-old Melodi Boivin, who was pregnant, 23-year-old Xavier Cabellero and their two children. Additional information is not available at this time.
