What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at East Freeway in Houston, TX on August 13th, 2023. Police say he incident happened around 3:29 p.m. Officials say a Ford F-150 was westbound in a turn only lane before traveling onto a raised concrete median. The vehicle ended up striking a utility pole before crossing northbound lanes and striking an individual that was in or near the median. The vehicle also struck a pillar before coming to rest. The victim struck, identified as Nelson Ramos Jorge, was taken an area hospital with injuries he lated died from. The driver of the Ford, identified as Samuel Cruz Cruz, was hospitalized with injuries believe to be non-life-threatening. Additional information was not available.
