What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 290 in Chappell Hill, TX on August 10th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:59 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 45-year-old driver who was not publicly identified is accused of failing to yield from a private drive. Police say the vehicle entered onto the roadway and was blocking westbound lane of travel as it slowed to perform a turn. This led to a collision between it and an approaching Chevrolet Sonic, operated by 38-year-old Omar Cabrera Rodriguez. Rodriguez suffered serious injuries, according to officials. Police say the truck operator was not injured and recommended and/or issued a Failure to Yield Right of Way-Private Drive charge.
