Texas Department of Public Safety officers are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 83 near Wellington, TX on January 7th, 2023. Officers say the crash happened around 12:15 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado traveling an what may have been unsafe speeds lost control during a turn. This caused the vehicle to veer into a side barrow ditch and hit a road sign before overturning. The driver, identified as 52-year-old Oran Starkey III, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Authorities did not have any additional details.
