What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a motorcyclist at Andrews Hwy in Midland, TX on September 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:58 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Caravan operated by a 55-year-old man waist a turn lane at the intersection with Texas Ave. Police say a motorcycle operated by 25-year-old Pablo Zapata was southbound at the intersection. Police allege the Dodge failed to yield right of was and turned into the path of the motorcycle, the vehicles colliding in the intersection. Following the collision, authorities allege the Dodge stopped briefly before fleeing the scene. The crash left Zapata with serious injuries, according to police. The other driver had unknown injuries and sources indicate an Intoxication Assault charge was recommended and/or issued against the driver.
