What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed three teens at FM 2661 in Smith County, TX on May 21st, 2023. Police say it happened around 2:58 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Altima operated by 19-year-old Raven Clewis had been traveling northbound on FM 2661 prior to veering from the roadway for unclear reasons. The vehicle collided with a tree, leaving Clewis with fatal injuries. Two additional passengers, both 17, also suffered fatal injuries. Three other passengers, two 17 and one 16, were injured and hospitalized for treatment. Police do not have any additional details at this time.
