What Happened

Houston Police identified the person killed in a crash at I-45 in Houston, TX on August 26th, 2022. Officials say the incident happened around 11:10 p.m. Investigators believe a Mercedes-Benz operated by Refugio Cancino Calamaco III was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to losing control and crashing into a retaining wall. The impact saw the vehicle roll over the wall and fall to the ground below on Sam Houston Parkway. Calamaco was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional information was not immediately available.
