What Happened

Longview Police are investigating a collision that killed one person at West Hope Rd in Longview, TX on February 26th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 12:52 p.m. According to investigators, a vehicle headed westbound is said to have veered from the road before striking a pedestrian and a vehicle nearby. The pedestrian,  identified as 69-year-old Santiago Ramirez Perez, was reportedly performing maintenance underneath the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries in the incident. Authorities allege the driver of the suspect vehicle was 46-year-old Lantz Darensbourg. Police further allege Darensbourg was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and reports say he was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.
