What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a driver at RM 32 in Comal County, TX on August 28th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:03 p.m. Investigators believe a Ford F-250 operated by 47-year-old Shawn Schlueter was going northwest on FM 32 as it approached a curve in the road. The vehicle is said to have passed a patrol unit that attempted to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle came a to a stop in a shoulder before allegedly fleeing police, who say they did not initiate a pursuit. While the vehicle continued northeast, it lost control at a curve and overturned through a fence. The roll caused Schlueter to be ejected from the truck, causing serious injuries. He was taken to an area hospital where he would later die from his injuries. Additional information was not available.
