What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 287 in Freestone County, TX on January 15th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:04 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram operate day 55-year-old Michael Scott Summers was towing a trailer headed westbound on US 287 at the time. A Honda Civic operated by 43-year-old Stephen Mark Sullivan was also headed westbound. Officers allege the Dodge failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the Honda. The Honda was also struck by a Jeep Wrangler, leaving Sullivan with fatal injuries injuries. Summers and the Jeep driver were reportedly uninjured. Additional details were not available.
