What Happened

A teen died in a single-vehicle crash that left three others injured at Hwy 86 in Swisher County, TX on January 8th, 2023. Police say it happened around 4 a.m. According to investigators, a Chrysler 300 was traveling westbound on Hwy 86 before veering from the road for unknown reasons. Upon exiting the road, it went into a ditch and hit a culvert causing it to go airborne. Upon landing, the vehicle rolled and ejected two of its occupants. One of the two, a 15-year-old male, was killed. Three others, including 19-year-old Zaida Alvarez, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Officers are currently investigating possible causes for the crash and allege suspicion of speed and alcohol playing factors.
