What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at FM 1854 in Caldwell County, TX on July 25th, 2022. According to investigators, the incident happened around 5:50 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram operated by 26-year-old Josue Giovanni Salazar Rangel was headed southbound on FM 1854 before crossing over into a northbound lane. A northbound Honda Civic operated by a 22-year-old Dale man is said to have taken evasive action as the Dodge continued southbound in the northbound lanes, crashing head-on with a Toyota Scion operated by Terry Coleman Sandlin. The impact left Sandlin with fatal injuries. Rangel was arrested at the scene on suspicion of intoxication.
