What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two men at US 277 in Dimmit County, TX on June 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:20 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by a 27-year-old San Antonio man was traveling eastbound on US 277, nearing a Border Patrol checkpoint. The vehicle is said to have lost control awhile attempting to avoid colliding with another vehicle before colliding with a metal sunshade  and Chevrolet Tahoe C1500. Officials say both drivers had suspected serious injuries. Sources indicate charges for Failure to Control Speed and Intoxication Assault charges were recommended and/or issued against the San Antonio man.
