What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured two people at I-20 in Sweetwater, TX on May 26th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:35 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 53-year-old woman reportedly lost control when she allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel. The vehicle veered from the road and lost control as the woman attempted to correct the vehicle. It then travelled across a concrete ditch into a steep embankment. Both the woman and her 60-year-old male passenger asleep in the sleep berth, were seriously injured. The woman was charged with failure to drive in a single lane.
