What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a woman at Antelope Trail in Midland, TX on October 22nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:39 a.m. According to investigators, a 2018 Hyundai Elantra was southbound on Antelope Trail before colliding with the rear of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra stopped at a red light. The vehicle was stopped behind a tractor-trailer that was also stoped for the light, police say. Reports say the vehicle was pushed into the tractor-trailer, the driver, identified as 42-year-old Veronica Barraza, suffered serious injuries. A 49-year-old passenger in the vehicle, who was not identified, had minor injuries, police say. Reports indicate the driver of the 2018 Hyundai was uninjured and a charge of Driving While Intoxicated was recommended and/or issued against the driver.
