What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two people at Nolana Ave in McAllen, TX on February 1st, 2023. Police are saying it happened around 12:40 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 3500 operate day a 44-year-old Sergio Chavez Garcia was headed westbound on Nolana Ave before colliding with the rear of a Toyota 4Runner stopped for a red traffic signal. The impact pushed the vehicle into the vehicle in front of it, a Buick Lacrosse, also stopped at the light. The driver of the Toyota had serious injuries, according to investigators. The driver was identified as 37-year-old Victor Monjaraz Jr. Chavez Garcia had less serious injuries while the occupants of the Buick are said to have been uninjured. Officers have expressed suspicion that alcohol may have played a factor in the collision and recommended a Driving While Intoxicated charge.
