What Happened

A pedestrian was identified as the person injured in a crash at Balcones Club Dr in Austin, TX on January 25th, 2023. Authorities say 68-year-old Wenwu Cai was seriously injured in the incident, which occurred around 10:39 p.m. Police believe a Chevrolet Cruze operated by a 63-year-old Leander woman was headed northbound on Balcones Club Dr before colliding with Cai. At this time, authorities were not able to provide more information regarding a possible cause for the crash. The Leander woman remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Cai was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Additional information was not available at this time.
