What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured two drivers at FM 559 in Bowie County, TX on August 5th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:15 a.m. According to investigators, Ford Expedition operated by a 20-year-old driver is believed to have been headed southbound, approaching a curve in the roadway. The vehicle is said to have veered to the right and, while attempting to correct back onto the road, veered into a northbound lane. The vehicle is said to have collided with a northbound Ford Transit van operated by 62-year-old William Cook. Officials say Cook had serious injuries while the Ford operator was less seriously injured. Sources indicate the operator of the Ford had charges of Driving Under Influence and Unsafe Speed recommended and/or issued against them.
