What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed three people at Hwy 80 in Phenix City, AL on August 27th, 2023. Police say the incident happened before 6:12 p.m. and involved an SUV colliding with the rear of a semi-truck. Authorities were not able to provide a possible cause for the collision. It was stated that the driver, 32-year-old Ami Napier and a passenger, 33-year-old Jimmy Napier Jr, died at the scene. A third passenger, a child under 18, was taken to an area hospital with injuries they later died from. An additional child passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.
