Alabama State Police are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-59 in Jefferson County, AL on March 21st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9:20 a.m. According to police, a Chevrolet S10 operated by 47-year-old Clifton J. Cottingham veered from the road for unknown reasons and collided with the rear of a semi-truck parked in the emergency shoulder. Both Cottingham and his passenger, 42-year-old Roy Melton Jr, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Additional information was not immediately available.
