What Happened

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at I-10 near Chandler, AZ on October 16th, 2024. Police say the incident involved multiple vehicles colliding in a chain-reaction crash that began when a box truck allegedly failed to slow in time. Reports say the truck collided with a pickup truck and three other cars before striking a median and catching fire. Officials say the driver of the box truck and pickup truck,  identified as 53-year-old José Guillermo Castellanos González and 62-year-old Efrain Gutiérrez-Ávila, were fatally injured. Two other drivers were hospitalized with minor injuries. Additional details were not available.
