What Happened

Phoenix Police identified the person killed in a collision at 52nd St and McDowell Rd in Phoenix, AZ on November 2nd, 2021. Fire Department officials responded to the crash around 6:18 p.m. A United Sates Postal Service truck was parked next to a mailbox on the side of the road when a box truck collided with the rear of the truck. The impact caused the mail truck to catch fire and the postal worker inside, 59-year-old Michael Blanton, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The box truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators say there were no signs of impairment for either driver. Further details were not available.
