What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a train collision that left multiple people with injuries at Los Angeles Ave and Gabbert Rd in Ventura County, CA on June 28th, 2023. Police say it happened around 11:19 a.m. According to investigators, an Amtrak train occupied by nearly 200 passengers collided with a tanker truck that was on the tracks for unknown reasons. The crash caused the train to catch fire in its baggage car and seeing several of the cars off the tracks. 15 people are said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was hospitalized in critical condition. Additional information has not been made available.
