What Happened

Area authorities are investigating following a collision that killed a pair of bicyclists at Silverado Trail in Napa County, CA on October 17th, 2023. Officials say it happened around 11 a.m. as the bicyclists traveled northbound. Police allege the lumber being hauled by a Freightliner truck also headed northbound shifted, handing partially off the flatbed of the truck. The cargo made impact with the cyclists, identified as 52-year-old Christian Deaton and 48-year-old wife, Michelle Deaton. Mr. Deaton died at the sene while Mrs. Deaton passed away from her injuries shortly after arrival at an area hospital. Police had no additional information available.
