What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured three people at Hwy 101 near Los Alamos, CA on March 8th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:39 p.m. Investigators say a tractor-trailer, operated by 32-year-old Christopher Moreno, was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway, nearly colliding with multiple vehicles. Two vehicles that were attempting to avoid the truck are said to have been involved in collision, when one, a Toyota truck, collided head-on with the truck. Moreno and his passenger, 31-year-old Cody Serrato were both injured as was the driver of the Toyota truck. That driver, identified as 44-year-old William Platte, was hospitalized with major injuries. Police allege suspicion that Moreno was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
