What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at South Union Ave in Bakersfield, CA on November 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:50 a.m. A GMC Envoy was headed southbound on Union Ave at a speed that police say was higher than 60 mph when a semi-truck crossed both southbound lanes in foggy weather conditions. Police go on to say that due to the speed the Envoy was traveling, it was unable to slow down and collided with truck, traveling partially under the trailer of the truck. The driver of the GM died at the scene while a female passenger and child passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries. Further details were not provided.
