What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at I-5 in Baker, CA on August 6th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:35 a.m. According to investigators, a Mercedes-Benz CLS550 operated by 24-year-old Joey Dee Hagerdorn was reportedly approaching the rear of a tractor-trailer at an unknown speed. The tractor-trailer was reportedly moving at a lower rate of speed and the Mercedes reportedly turned right to avoid a collision prior to the vehicles colliding. The Mercedes veered from the road before re-entering the road and becoming trapped under the the truck. Hagerdorn suffered fatal injuries at the scene. A female passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. Additional details were not available.
