What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed two people at I-5 in San Fernando Valley, CA on August 15th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 1 a.m. A Lexus sedan operated by 37-year-old Juan Carlos Menjivar reportedly failed to maintain a curve in the road and veered into the rear of a tractor-trailer parked in the shoulder. Both Menjivar and a passenger, 33-year-old Ana Elena Moreno Santos, died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
