What Happened

California Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at  I-5 and Hwy 140 near Gustine, CA on February 1st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:14 p.m. A Hyundai Sonata operated by 68-year-old Song Xiuming,  was headed northbound on an I-5 off-ramp and came to a stop at the stop sign with the intersection at Hwy 40. Investigators believe that after stopping, the vehicle failed to yield and traveled eastbound into the path of a tractor-trailer operated by 40-year-old Brett Cico. The driver and 66-year-old Xu Zhao in the Hyundai died in the collision. Cico was not injured. Further information was not yet available.
