What Happened

Fontana Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead at Mulberry Ave in Fontana, CA on January 30th, 2023. Police believe it happened around 1:14 p.m. and involved a Honda Civic and tractor-trailer. Investigators allege that the tractor-trailer performed an illegal u-turn to travel northbound onto Mulberry. At the same time, A Honda Civic headed southbound was approaching and collided with the truck, traveling underneath. The impact killed 21-year-old passenger, Ulises Gonzalez. The driver, unnamed and also 21, was hospitalized with injuries believed to be serious. Police say drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash and that the truck driver remained at the scene for authorities.
