What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed killed a driver at US Hwy 550 near Durango, CO in February 20th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 11 a.m. Officials say a Dodge Ram 3500 is said to have lost control for unclear reasons before veering into a northbound lane. The vehicle, which reports say was towing a trailer, is said to have become jack knifed before it collided with a northbound flatbed truck. Police say the river of the Dodge, identified as, Richard Engstrom, died at the scene. The other driver, identified as 22-year-old Dewayne Gruber Jr, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
