What Happened

Colorado State Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at Hwy 285 and County Rd 285E in Conifer, CO on June 12th, 2024. Authorities say a semi-truck was southbound before leaving the roadway for unclear reasons. The vehicle is said to have overturned onto its side, its cargo consisting or heavy metal landing on at least five nearby vehicles. An occupant of one of the vehicles, identified as 64-year-old Scott Miller, was fatally injured, reports say. Sources say 47-year-old Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza was arrested on a charge of reckless driving. Additional information was not immediately available.
