What Happened

State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that injured a driver at I-84 in Middlebury, CT on May 10th, 2023. Right now, officials believe it happened sometime before 6:45 a.m. Investigators allege a Dodge Ram was attempting to merge into left lane of travel as traffic ahead slowed. In the process, the truck is accused of colliding with the rear of a Ford Taurus, the impact pushing the Ford in a GMC Sierra. The Ford was left in a center lane following the collision before colliding with a tractor-trailer. The driver of the Ford, who has not been publicly identified, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police did not comment on the condition of the other drivers and say the operator of the Dodge was cited for Following Too Closely.
