What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision that killed a driver at I-84 in West Hartford, CT on December 5th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5 a.m. They add that it included a CT Transit bus, a USPS delivery vehicle, two passenger cars and two tractor-trailers. According to investigators, as the bus was stopped for traffic, it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. The truck also struck a FedEx deliver truck while the impact pushed the bus in to the rear of a Jeep and USPS delivery vehicle. The Jeep also struck a Toyota Rav-4 in the collision The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 58-year-old Gary Carter, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The drivers of the the commercial vehicles were hospitalized with minor injuries. Additional information was not available.
