What Happened

Delaware State Police identified a person killed in a crash at Route 40 near New Castle, DE on September 21st, 2022. They say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. According to investigators, a Saturn Aura operated by 28-year-old Jamar McGriff was headed  eastbound on Route 40 before veering into a right shoulder for unknown reasons. The vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer police say was illegally parked in the shoulder, causing the Saturn to overturn into a nearby group of trees. McGriff was pronounced dead at the scene.
