What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that left two people dead at I-95 and Churchmans Rd in Newark, DE on August 11th, 2022.  Police are saying it happened around 10:22 p.m. According to investigators, a BMW is said to have become disabled in a middle travel lane for unknown reasons after previously traveling southbound on I-95. The vehicle was then struck by a box truck, pushing it into a shoulder before the box truck caught fire. Both the 37-year-old driver and 27-year-old passenger of the BMW were pinned in the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The box truck driver was reportedly uninjured. Officers had no additional information to share.
