What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured 11 people at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL on July 30th, 2021. Police say the incident happened when a dump truck operated by 46-year-old Thomas Somersall reportedly collided with several vehicles before leaving the scene. Police say that 11 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Somersall was later arrested and charged with multiple counts of hit and run.
