What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured multiple people at US 17 in Putnam County, FL on July 15th, 2021. Police say the incident involved a tractor-trailer stopping on railroad tracks. Police say warning signs became active at some point as an Amtrak train approached, however the truck did not move. The trailer was struck and split in half. 14 people were treated for injuries that were mostly minor. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 55-year-old Louisville man, was not injured.
