What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a child at I-75 near State Rd 52 in Pasco County, FL on July 14th, 2022. They say it happened around 12:30 a.m. According to investigators, a passenger sedan occupied by three adults and three children became disabled after suffering issues with a tire. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at a low rate of speed as two of the adult occupants exited the vehicle to flag traffic away. A tractor-trailer operated by 31-year-old Aramis Peralta Ramirez approached headed southbound in an outside lane before colliding with the sedan and continuing southbound without stopping to render aid. One of the children in the vehicle, a 6-month-old girl, died. The other two children, ages 8 months and 3, both suffered minor injuries. The adults were not injured. Ramirez was later located and arrested on a leaving the scene of a crash involving death charge. Additional information was not available.
