What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a child at I-295 and State Rd 134 in Jacksonville, FL on March 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened as northbound traffic began slowing down. Investigators believe a van operated by an unidentified 34-year-old woman, collided with the rear of the truck. Two children were in the van at the time, ages 12 and 6. The 12-year-old was seriously injured and later died shortly after arrival at an area hospital. The 6-year-old was hospitalized with minor injuries while the woman was hospitalized with serious injuries. The truck driver was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
