Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured multiple at Amtrak train at Canal Ave in Lakeland, FL on July 14th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck is said to have been in the process of crossing railroad tracks as an Amtrak train approached. Investigators say part of the truck was still on the tracks as the crossing arms began to lower, its occupants having to jump to safety as the train approached. The train collided with the truck, leaving eight passengers aboard with suspected minor injuries. Additional information was not yet available.
