What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed five people at State Route 39 in Hillsborough County, FL on October 30th, 2022. Police believe it happened around 9:22 p.m. According to initial investigation, a Ford Explorer headed northbound on State Route 39 is accused of crossing a center line, colliding with a Nissan Frontier. Following the collision, a tractor-trailer struck the Nissan, which was disabled in a southbound lane following the initial crash. The driver of the Ford, an unnamed 20-year-old woman, as well as three passengers, ages 1, 12 and 56, were all killed. Also killed was the 53-year-old man operating the Nissan. Three other passenger in the Ford, ages 5, 22, and 31, were hospitalized with serious injuries. The tractor-trailer operated is believed to have been uninjured. Police had no additional details to share.
